Item 1:
Joint Capital Day of Action CCB Members Debrief
Thank you to each and every one of you who contributed in some way to Capital Day on May 26th. Whether you donated money, made the trip, made phone calls concurrently with our Day of Action, or just encouraged another person to attend, all of it was valuable and is still making a difference in the state legislature. Capital Day was a great success, although the CDLA realizes improvements are necessary, including starting earlier and coordinating much better. There will be an interactive debrief on Thursday, June 25 at 7:00PM for CCB members who attended. Please mark your calendars and save the date. The link will be sent out next week.
Item 2:
The Disability Community is tracking and very concerned about SB 84 (Niello), a "notice and opportunity to cure" bill that would require disabled people give businesses notice of their inaccessibility and wait 120 days before bringing a lawsuit to enforce the law. This bill would make it harder for disabled people to enforce their rights while rewarding businesses that fail to comply with the law. The list of organizations supporting and opposing the bill is very telling.
We thought the bill was dead but now appears to have some real momentum behind it. We need the community to speak out in opposition through letters and calls.
• We need Californians to call the Assembly Judiciary Committee at (916) 319-2334 and tell them to vote NO on SB 84.
• We also need folks to call individual member offices who are throwing their support behind the bill. If you are one of their constituents, pleas add a call to them.

California's First Urgent Speak4 Campaign, Funding for Older Adults
Along with the California Agencies for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI) and the National Federation of the Blind (NFBC), we are urgently asking the California legislature to increase funding for OIB, which funds critical programs for individuals who are blind/low vision. Adaptations is pleased to announce the reopening of the Showcase Space at 1155 Market St 10th floor, San Francisco, CA 94103.
