GuideLights And Gadgets is a unique "blind-run" company, established over 10 years ago. We, as blind consumers AND entrepreneurs have carved out a unique niche in the market, based both upon the broad scope and function-driven goals of our product offerings and the underlying belief that the best way to help customers is to actively assist in figuring out which products will best meet their needs.

We are best known in five product areas:

  • Our titanium telescopic locking (non-collapsing) canes;
  • Our wide variety of leather products: hands-free neck pouches, a waist pack with a built-in cane holder, protective cases for Braille displays and other devices requiring protection, shoulder, backpack and cross-body bags, and lots more;
  • Our line of highly accurate talking medical products, which include an oximeter, non-contact infrared thermometer, and blood pressure cuff unit; these are made in partnership with a company that sells to hospitals and other medical providers and NOT over the Internet;
  • A line of products for guide dogs and their handlers which encompasses safety, security, travel, grooming, and of course, lots of toys; and
  • Our specialized electronic products that we have found useful, including some we have manufactured: bone conduction headphones, single ear luetooth headsets, our soundbox amplifiers that work with book players and phones, power banks, our unique line of very heavy duty 3 in 1 cables; and lots more.

We try to attend between 10 and 12 shows to demo our products each year; we do not utilize e-commerce as we believe it is in the best interest of our customers to directly communicate with us to best ascertain their needs and identify the products that best work for them.

Non-24 Hr Disorder/Vanda Pharmaceuticals

Non-24 Hour Sleep Wake Circadian Rhythm Disorder is a serious chronic disorder:

  • For people who are blind or visually impaired and unable to perceive any or enough light, the body clock and sleep-wake cycle can become out of sync with the 24 hour day-night cycle.
  • People who have Non-24 experience a constant daily shift in the times when their body expects to sleep and be awake, creating periods when they may be awake at night and want to sleep during the day.

Without enough or any light cues, individuals living with Non-24 may experience the following symptoms—

  • Trouble falling asleep and/or staying asleep during the night
  • A strong urge to sleep during the day or a tendency to fall asleep unexpectedly
  • Sleep patterns that are different from those of most other people they know

***these symptoms may greatly affect the quality of your life.
