President’s Message: An Appeal to Participants

As president of the California Council of the Blind, please join me and my guide dog Carly in participating in the sixth annual Mutt Strut to raise funds for the largest grass roots membership organization of persons with vision loss in California!

For more than 80 years, the mission of the California Council of the Blind (CCB) has been to gain full independence and equality of opportunity for all blind and visually impaired Californians.

The CCB does not receive any government funds. We provide our support and services through membership dues and the generosity of people like you. CCB is a not-for profit, 501C (3) tax-exempt organization composed primarily of Californians who are blind or have low vision. We hail from all walks of life; from seniors to students, from teachers to attorneys, from business-persons to psychologists, from volunteers to job-seekers. We also reflect the wonderful diversity of our great state.

The Mutt Strut gives you the opportunity to assist us in providing an array of services to persons with vision loss, including academic and vocational scholarships, crisis intervention, educational opportunities, no-interest loans for employment purposes, and peer mentoring and support.

Come join us at Crescenta Valley Park in La Crescenta for our 2k/5k extravaganza; with or without a Mutt, walking or running, literally or virtually! Register ahead of time and assist in raising funds by creating your own fund-raising page; or support one of our individual participants or teams.

Your generosity will allow us the continued ability to share the tools for independence with all Californian's who are blind or visually impaired!
