Capitol Plaza Holiday Inn Hotel
Emergency Operation Procedures
In case of Fire:

For your personal safety, please note where each exit is located upon arrival.

Floor Plan

There are two stairways on each hotel level. One on the west end and one on the east end.
These stairways can be used in case of emergency. Located to the right hand side of these
doors leading out are the fire alarms and also the fire extinguishers. To activate the alarm,
simply pull down the lever. The extinguishers are located just down and slightly right from
the alarm. The extinguishers are housed within a cabinet. Pull open the door to have access
to the extinguisher. There is also a fire alarm located in the elevator stairwell on the east wall.

Both sets of stairs take you directly outside. If the west stairs are used, the person will be on
the west side of the hotel facing 3rd St.. The east side stairs put you outside facing the K Street mall.

Evacuation Procedures

General: Our fire alarm makes a high pitched humming noise. This noise is loud enough to be
heard in each guestroom, however is only going off in the hallways. If evacuation is necessary,
every attempt will be made for a member of our staff to assist you in exiting the hotel. (See below)

We ask guests assemble on the stairs between our hotel and the office buildings directly to our south.
From the east exit, the guest would turn right directly after our outdoor patio. From the west exit,
the guest would turn left directly after the end of the hotel.

1. If you detect fire or smoke, notify the operator by dialing "0", or pull the nearest fire alarm manual pull station.

2. If you must leave, feel door to see if hot. If not hot, open slightly to look and listen if you can make it to the
stairways. Stay low to the floor and take your key.

3. Do not use the elevator. Proceed to the nearest stairway and exit on the ground floor.

4. If unable to exit your room because of fire or smoke:

a. Close door and seal with a wet towel.

b. Stay near the window until help arrives.
